A new trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 showcases new looks for many of the characters in the game, along with some impressive graphical improvements from Insomniac’s last two installments in the Marvel’s Spider-Man video game franchise. We also get a first look at Harry Osborne, whose appearance in the video game has long-awaited by fans of the first game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be the first game in the franchise to be released solely for the PS5. With the game being able to take full advantage of the next gen console’s technology, fans have been eager to see how much different Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will look to its predecessors. The trailer puts those next gen visuals on display and even shows some intriguing new changes to its characters.

Miles’ New Haircut for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

2020’s Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales was praised for getting its beloved protagonist’s hair right. Not only was Mile’s hair texture and detail accurate to the way black hair actually looks, he was also hooked up with a fresh fade and clean lineup, something that’s unfortunately absent from a lot of black video game characters. Now, in 2023, Insomniac Games takes it a step further and turns Miles’ original haircut into a high top dreadlock fade.

In addition to his new hairstyle, the trailer shows Miles confronting Martin Li, who also has a new look for the game. It’s unknown how Martin Li will be involved in the story, but his presence in the trailer interacting with Miles reaffirms that this game will be Miles’ story just as much as it is Peter’s.

First Look at Venom and Harry Osborne in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Harry Osborne was mentioned several times in Marvel’s Spider-Man, but didn’t actually show up at any point in the game. This trailer is the very first time we’ve got to see what Insomniac’s version of Harry Osborne looks and sounds like in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

The trailer shows Harry talking with Peter and urging him to help “heal the world.” Later on we see a clip of Venom showing up to terrorize the city and spouting the same phrase in an albeit much more menacing way. This leads us to believe that Harry will most likely be Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but Insomniac could be throwing us all for a loop.

New Character Models for Peter and MJ in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Miles isn’t the only one who’s got an updated look for the new game. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Peter Parker looks to have bulked up a bit and sports a slightly different haircut from his previous version from Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered. Additionally, he looks a little older than he previously did, which addresses a lot of the concern that a number of fans have had regarding his previous face looking too young. It also makes sense for the story as he will most likely be in his late twenties during this game.

MJ’s new model is by far the most drastically different from her previous model. She now has a completely new face that looks a bit more realistic, and this time around she wears her hair down rather than in the ponytail she had in Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018).
